Frequently asked questions

What does BlurShield actually do?

It blurs your screen the moment your lid starts closing, your display sleeps, your screen locks, you press a keyboard shortcut, or your Mac goes idle — whichever triggers you turn on. Touch ID or your login password brings it back.

Does BlurShield see or store what's on my screen?

No. The blur is rendered entirely on your Mac using the system's own screen APIs. Nothing about your screen's content is captured, stored, or sent anywhere — there's no server involved in the blur itself.

How many Macs does one licence cover?

The Single Mac plan covers one Mac. The Three Macs plan covers up to three Macs you own, using the same licence key — no extra accounts needed.

What are the system requirements?

macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on any Apple silicon Mac. Lid-angle triggers specifically need a MacBook with a lid angle sensor; every other trigger works on any supported Mac, including desktops.

How do I install BlurShield?

Download BlurShield.dmg, double-click to open it, drag BlurShield into the Applications shortcut shown in the window, then eject the disk image. Launch BlurShield once from Applications — it moves into the menu bar and starts with your Mac automatically after that.

Does Espresso (the keep-awake mode) need special permissions?

No account or system permission approval is required for the power assertions themselves. Espresso uses a small helper tool you approve once in System Settings — it does exactly one thing, can't see your files, camera, or browsing, and switches itself off the moment Espresso stops.

I lost my licence key, or activation isn't working — what do I do?

Email us at the address below with the email you purchased under, and we'll look it up and get you sorted.

Can I get a refund?

Reach out to us — we handle refund requests case by case. Payments are processed by Paddle.com, our reseller of record, so a refund may show as issued by Paddle on your statement.
